The difference between ordinary and extraordinary--is that something extra.
The time is right to build your dream home, move up to a nicer home, or remodel your current home. Today’s purchaser is looking for value and we are seeing many more upgraded features in today’s homes.
Smart Money magazine has a great article in the May 2004 issue that lists nine “Value-Added Upgrades.” It includes ideas that are very popular here in Vermont. They lists the features buyers are looking for today: cathedral ceilings, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors, luxury spa bathrooms, media rooms, home offices and outdoor fireplaces.
I find these same features popular in Vermont with the exception of the outdoor fireplace, but those will surely be coming our way soon. We are also seeing new homes with open floor plans, lots of windows, porches and custom decks. If you are thinking of building this year, give me a call to discuss your options.
The most important advice that I can give is to remodel or build your home so you will enjoy it now.Don’t wait until you sell to put in those new appliances or the granite countertops. Put them in now so you can fully enjoy them while you're living there!
Interest rates are in the news a lot lately, but the rates are not expected to rise significantly in the next six to eight months, perhaps only a half to three quarters of a percent by years end. Keep in mind that these low rates will not be around forever and as the economy improves they will rise. If you have been waiting for rates to improve before buying or refinancing, my advice would be to act now and lock in at these lower rates.
