The difference between ordinary and extraordinary--is that something extra.
The holiday season is one of my favorites in Vermont because it is a time for beholding the generosity of so many people. It is in the spirit of giving that the true blessings of life come back to us in so many ways.
I would like to share with you a family recipe we make every year—my mother’s holiday cut-out cookies, which are easy to work with and delicious. Your family will enjoy decorating these together!
Holiday Cut-Out Cookies
3 1/2 cups flour
1 T baking powder
1/2 T salt
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 1/20 T vanilla
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, beat butter with sugar, then add the eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour mixture, making a firm dough. Roll out to a thickness of 1/4 inch. Using cookie cutters, cut out fun holiday shapes. Place on non-greased cookie sheets. Bake until lightly golden, about 10 minutes. Cool on pan briefly before transferring to cooling racks. Let cool completely before decorating.
Colored Frosting
1/4 cup butter
1 Tsp vanilla
2 cups conf. sugar
2 Tb cream or milk
In a small bowl, cream butter and vanilla. Gradually add sugar. Add milk, beating until smooth. Separate frosting into 4-5 smaller bowls. Color these by stirring in small amounts of food coloring until desired color is reached. Decorate cookies and enjoy! |

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL
Everybody on Nancy’s team was great! My wife and I were first time home buyers and we were a bit intimidated by the prospect of buying a home. Bob did a fantastic job finding properties for us to view and he was constantly checking in to see how we were doing. During the closing, Erica made sure we had all of the appropriate paperwork and Ruth helped us reserve the Nancy Jenkins truck on our moving day. And to have Nancy at the closing was great! Thank you so much! -JOE AND JENN KUDRLE - 10/18/2007
