The difference between ordinary and extraordinary--is that something extra.
I know it is February outside, but the spring real estate market is here. The number of
homes available to buyers in Chittenden County remains low with an average of only
240 homes and condos currently on the market. We have lots of folks relocating in and
out of our area. They are looking in all price ranges—wanting lakeshore, country, city or
suburban homes—and as always in Vermont they are finding our area a very positive
environment for families.

The time is definitely right. Low interest rates are still here as well as attractive mortgage
programs with 3-year adjustable rates from 2.99% with zero points, and 5-year
adjustable rates from 4.25% with zero points. 30-year fixed rates remain at historical
lows, with zero point rates in the 5.75% range. Call your lender to find out how much
you can qualify for a new home.
I would like to strongly advise everyone to take advantage of two FREE resources:
- The State of Vermont Health Department is offering a free radon test. Radon is the
second leading cause of lung cancer and it is a growing issue in Vermont. You should
test your home to make sure your family is not affected by high radon levels.
