2005 is off to a great start. Many folks have begun their search for new homes in earnest. The number of homes available for sale is seasonally low. So, if you are waiting to put your home on the market, now is the time.
The Real Estate Business Magazine published a survey conducted by the National Association of REALTORS.® Here are some of the findings that I hope you will find interesting.
- Baby Boomer's children will drive the real estate market for the next 10 years.
- The average age of a first time home-buyer is 32 years old with an income of $54,500.
- For Sale by Owners account for 14% of all sales- one third of those sales were to people the Seller already knew.
- The typical Buyer searched for eight weeks, saw nine homes, and moved 18 miles.
- The typical Seller sold in four weeks, after residing in the home for six years.
- 79% of residential sales were existing homes, and 21% were new construction.
- Where did the Buyer find their home?
- 38% from their Real Estate Agent
- 16% from the yard sign
- 15% from the internet
- 44% of Buyers and Sellers found their Real Estate Agent through a referral – friend, neighbor, or relative.
